Locksmiths

You may be aware of the various services provided by locksmiths and when to call one, but are you aware of the process that occurs after a locksmith company receives your call? If you know what to expect, you can make sure that you’re getting the best service possible. This information will help you hold your locksmith to higher quality standards and have a better understanding of what is going on behind the scenes. After a professional locksmith receives your call, these are the 6 steps they will take.

1. Submitting a Service Request

Once you realize that you are in need of a certain locksmithing service, you will make a call to a local locksmith. Ideally, you will be familiar with a professional locksmith company before calling. Otherwise, you will need to do a quick search beforehand. Your call will be accepted by the home office, which serves as the company’s primary hub. The company’s ability to serve large areas is enabled through centralized communication. During the call, you will be asked for information such as your location, which service you require, whether you need an automotive, residential or commercial locksmith, and your phone number. If you’re having a lock problem but aren’t sure what kind of service you require, simply notify the operator of the problem.

2. Dispatch

The central office will then call the manager in your area to advise them of your service request. The manager will dispatch a locksmith to your location and pass on the details of the job. If it is after hours, there is usually one technician that is on call for emergencies.

3. A Technician Will Contact You

Once the technician is on their way, they will call you and give you their ETA as well as collect any additional information about the situation. That way, the technician will have all the necessary tools and equipment to complete the task on hand. If it is the middle of the night or you are in an unsafe situation, the technician will advise on how to stay safe while waiting for them.

4. Evaluation

When the technician arrives, they will greet you professionally. They will then evaluate the situation and let you know what needs to be done to solve the issue. A service fee will be calculated and you will sign a document confirming that you accept the service and cost. This guarantees that the invoice has no surprises.

5. Locksmithing

Next, the locksmithing process begins. Professional locksmiths will always give the customers an estimate for the time it will take to complete the task; however, the amount of time will vary depending on the job since every job takes a different amount of time. The technician will try to complete the job as quickly and efficiently as possible while avoiding causing damage to your property (unless absolutely necessary). If it is required to damage your door locks in order to get you back inside, the locksmith will repair any damage that is caused.

6. Payment

After the service is complete and you are completely satisfied with the work, you will be presented with an invoice and will be required to pay the locksmith. You can pay the technician in cash or with a credit card, depending on what you prefer.

Now that you are aware of what the process looks like after you call a locksmith, you can protect yourself from poor locksmithing practices. If you have experience with a locksmith that doesn’t seem professional, don’t hire them again. Do research before hiring anyone to ensure that you are working with a professional locksmith.
